If feels that way lately.
A lot of people are struggling – anxiety, depression, substance abuse, marital issues, work frustrations…
Oh yeah, and then there is the old pandemic, the fear of a new pandemic, whether or not to get vaccinated, political unrest, rising gas prices…
It can all feel like too much.
But, “Life has meaning under all circumstances, even the most miserable”.
If Viktor Frankl can survive three years in Nazi concentration camps and still say those words, well maybe there is hope for the rest of us.
Here are a few ideas to help you through, “The Basics”, I like to call them:
Take care of yourself. Take care of those around you. Try to do something good for someone else every day. Get enough sleep, but not too much. Drink plenty of water. If you drink alcohol or caffeine, do so in moderation. Spend time with loved ones. Eat healthy. Get out in the sun, when it’s possible. When it’s not possible Vitamin D can be very helpful. Exercise a little each day, even if it is walking. Turn off the news. Watch things that make you laugh.
If these don’t work, maybe you could check in with your friendly neighborhood mental health therapist.
Before you do that though – give this a try. I recorded those podcast last year on Anxiety and Depression, maybe it can help. Take care! – Dan
