Responsibility and Right Action

November 4, 2018

“It does not really matter what we expect from life, but rather what life expects from us. We need to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who are being questioned by life—daily and hourly. Our answer must consist, not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct.

Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual.”

And some days, that can seem like a giant pain in the neck.  Or worse.  It is stressful, tense, and anxiety inducing.  It can be full of frustration, hurt, and desperation.  Taking responsibility can sometimes mean admitting guilt.  It can be depressing.

But it is meaningful.  Doing the work to learn and rise above these situations will help us to discover meaning in life.

I’m still searching for that one piece of research or literature that says “life should be easy.”  I read quite a bit.  I still haven’t found it.

So until then, do what is meaningful.  Seek the answers to life’s problems in a responsible way.  I’ll keep looking for the easy solution – I’ll let you know when I find it.
