Through my journeys in the past few weeks I was recommeded to read a book – an amazing story – a story of intense trauma and revival. A story most of us can’t relate to directly, but a situation we can all recognize in our lives, in some parts. This book, Phoenix Revival, was recommended to me by a Veteran who now works in the psychedelic healing space. A man I trusted with my personal safety and spiritual journey. And, although I am not ready to share my personal journey, I thought this book would be a resource you could enjoy – and perhaps grow from – as much as I did. And, seriously, what a gorgeous cover!! I hope you read it. Enjoy. – Dan

Phoenix Revival: The Aftermath of Naval Aviation’s Fastest Survived Ejection by Kegan “Smurf” Gill

Why it stands out
-
The ejection event itself is extraordinary, making the book not just a combat/aviation memoir but a survival story on a dramatic physical scale.
-
Gill’s honesty about his fall — into injury, dependency, system failure — gives the book emotional depth and broad appeal beyond aviation-enthusiasts.
-
The arc from crisis to revival offers hope and practical insight for veterans, wounded service personnel, and anyone navigating significant trauma.
-
The subtitle, The Aftermath of Naval Aviation’s Fastest Survived Ejection, signals an emphasis not just on the incident, but on what happens afterwards — which often is the harder story.
Target audience
This book will resonate with:
-
Military/aviation followers who want a first‐hand account of a near‐catastrophic event and its aftermath.
