Stress is a sense that we have something to do that we haven’t done yet. In manageable doses, stress is a healthy motivator that propels us to get stuff done. When we are in a position to choose our own stress – to choose projects we want to do, work we find meaningful, or hobbies that allow us to express our creativity, we engage in our own healthy stress. We develop and we grow – we may even help those around us to do the same.
“Thus it can be seen that mental health is based on a certain degree of tension, the tension between what one has already achieved and what one still ought to accomplish, or the gap between what one is and what one should become. Such a tension is inherent in the human being and therefore is indispensable to mental well-being.” – Viktor Frankl
